Gutter Grading Plan
A grading plan is an important element in preventing property damage flooding standing water and erosion of embankment areas.
Gutter grading plan. Gutters and downspouts are essential parts of a home s exterior but if they aren t installed or maintained properly they can cause problems. The design engineer must consider the existing topography of the development and its relationship with adjacent properties. This means the downspout end of the gutter should be set 3 4 of an inch lower than the other end. If the builder follows the grading plan he or she can lower the risk of callbacks.
Curb and gutter match gutter flow line 3 4 7 1 2 r detail a 1. Connect the 4 inch flex drain to the catch basin and place in the trench. Dig a trench with a down hill slope away from the home and in the direction of the water collection discharge point. You may need multiple catch basins to solve your grading and drainage problems.
Gutter elevation 0. As a general rule gutter slope is set at 1 4 inch per 10 feet of guttering. A typical grading plan. See attachment a for impervious area worksheet.
A grade of 15 is desired. The drainage should be designed such that the post development site runoff is equal to or less than the predevelopment site run off. This often requires the removal of an immense amount of dirt. The plan may involve drains to collect water and pipe it away subsurface drainage to collect water as it percs into the ground or regrading to direct.
Evaluate and plan the gutter replacement project. It gives the site supervisor with the needed information for managing and inspecting the grading. An average grading plan shows the slope of the lot displaying it in five foot increments. For example if you have 30 feet of guttering the calculation is 1 4 x 3 0 75 i e.
Requirements for plot and finished grading plans. If you basement is 2 feet below ground the slope would need to be at a minimum of 15 and a minimum of 16 feet long. Basic required slope length would be a minimum of 8 times the depth of the basement. Concrete sidewalk and ramps at curb returns shall be mag class a.
Control elevations shown are in relation to the gutter and are located radially. Planning the rain gutter replacement project. Almost all home centers and full service hardware stores sell guttering designed for easy installation. Plot finished grading plan must be submitted with building permit applications.
A new drainage plan. Back fill the trench and monitor over time. Where cross gutters are to be constructed the centerline grade will be carried up from the lip of the gutter at a desirable rate of 1 5 or a maximum rate of 2 and joined to any desirable grade with a true vertical curve. The length of the vertical curve shall be designed so as to produce a minimum of perceptible vertical acceleration.
